WILLIE B. SIMS
My Passion is to Serve and Inspire Others.
Willie B. Sims accepted Christ as his personal Savior on February 3, 1975, in a Sunday night
service where he was miraculously saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost. In 1982, he
was consecrated and ordained as an Elder under the late Bishop C. L. Anderson, Jr. in Great
Lakes Jurisdiction of Michigan. He has faithfully served three (3) Pastors, his father-in-law the
late Superintendent James A. Sheridan; the late Bishop Clifford C. Dunlap; and Bishop Michael
E. Hill, Sr., the current Jurisdictional Prelate of Great Lakes First Jurisdiction of Michigan and
General Board Member of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. Elder Sims was an Educator employed by
the Detroit Public School System and retired after 36 years of service.
In June of 2015, Elder Sims was appointed as pastor of Holy Ghost Temple TGOC COGIC and
in August of 2015, he was officially consecrated and installed as the Pastor. Pastor Sims has
served in the prison ministry, the street ministry and numerous positions in the local church, the
district and the Jurisdiction. He currently serves on Great Lakes First Jurisdictional Ordination
Committee, as the Vice-Chairman of GLF General Pastors & Elders Council and as a Chaplain
for the Highland Park Police Chaplain Corp.
He and his wife of more than 48 years, Evangelist Joyce L. Sims, currently serve in ministry
together and are the proud parents of two children, Thabiti (NaKisha) and Oni; six grandchildren
and one great-grandson. Pastor and Evangelist Sims desire to see men, women, boys and girls saved,
sanctified, and Holy Ghost filled. Their passion is to make disciples of Jesus Christ, to teach them that prayer, the
Word and love of God, not only changes lives when it’s applied but also makes them effective
witnesses in the earth.
